Promoting Gastronomic Tourism, Bumi Aki Heritage and West Java Tourism Agency Sign MoU
Bumi Aki Heritage is committed to preserving Sundanese culture through culinary gastronomic tourism. A synergy has been established with the West Java Provincial Tourism and Culture Agency, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Ministry of Culture to strengthen the national tourism and cultural ecosystem, particularly in West Java.
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Rizki Handayani Mustafa, stated that this initiative demonstrates the significant potential of local cuisine to become a primary attraction for quality tourism.
“We view this step as an important part in strengthening Indonesia’s positioning as a competitive gastronomic destination,” said Rizki in her statement on Saturday, 2 May 2026.
Several intangible cultural heritages preserved by Bumi Aki Heritage include burayot, nagasari, es goyobod, as well as signature dishes from various regions such as empal gentong from Cirebon and sate maranggi from Purwakarta.
Head of the West Java Provincial Tourism and Culture Agency, Dr. Iendra Sofyan, said that with the vision of ‘Realising an Exceptional West Java that is Advanced, Competitive, and Sustainable’, they agreed to sign a Joint Commitment with Bumi Aki Heritage.
According to him, this is a strategic step to strengthen West Java’s gastronomic tourism based on local culinary culture, to enhance tourism competitiveness through a Sundanese cultural and culinary approach.
“This synergy is expected to deliver a more memorable gastronomic tourism experience in West Java for both local and international tourists,” said Iendra.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PT Bumi Aki Boga, Dr. Anisha Desiliana Resti, explained that this step aims to expand the exposure of West Java’s culture as part of the national cultural wealth at both domestic and international levels. This is because they believe that cuisine is a powerful medium for introducing culture.
“Through this collaboration, Bumi Aki Heritage is committed to providing family dining experiences based on Sundanese traditions that are not only delicious but rich in cultural values and intergenerational togetherness,” said Anisha.
As a manifestation of the ‘Elevating Culture’ pillar, Bumi Aki Heritage does not merely serve food but offers a culinary lifestyle (lifestyle dining experience) that is relevant to the new generation without losing its cultural roots.
