Indonesia’s sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno passed away on Monday, 2 March 2026 in the morning at RSPAD Gatot Subroto Hospital after 16 days of hospitalisation. Try Sutrisno was laid to rest at his home on Purwakarta Street Number 6 RT 08 RW 05, Menteng, Central Jakarta, before being given a military funeral at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP Kalibata), with President Prabowo Subianto leading the procession as inspector.

President Prabowo Subianto remembered Try Sutrisno as a true soldier and simple leader. Through an Instagram post on Monday (2 March), Prabowo shared: “Today Indonesia has lost one of its finest sons, Indonesia’s sixth Vice President General Try Sutrisno of the Indonesian Armed Forces.”
Prabowo emphasised: “I remember him as a true soldier and leader who was simple, firm, and always put the Homeland above all else. His exemplary conduct, courage, and dedication to the nation will always be an inspiration to us all.”

House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani conveyed her deep condolences on behalf of herself and the DPR RI. She recalled her last encounter: “The last time I met the late General was at the annual parliamentary session last year. House of Representatives Speaker Ahmad Muzani disclosed that Try Sutrisno had expressed a wish before his death: “He told us last Eid that he hoped there would be a fifth amendment to the 1945 Constitution before he passed away. I take that message from him seriously as a leader of the MPR.”
