Prolonged Dry Season Leaves Over 10,000 West Java Residents Struggling for Clean Water

A prolonged dry season has made clean water increasingly difficult to obtain in several areas of West Java. Thousands of residents are now dependent on water distribution to meet their daily needs, as the areas affected by drought continue to expand.

According to the West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the drought has spread to six regencies and one city: Garut, Bogor, Bekasi, Karawang, Pangandaran, and Tasikmalaya Regencies, as well as Sukabumi City. More than 10,000 residents are experiencing a clean water crisis due to the natural disaster.

In Kampung Karacak, Rancabungur Village, Bogor Regency, residents queued patiently on Saturday (11/7/2026) to fill containers with clean water from aid tankers. The distribution of clean water has become a lifeline for communities whose water sources have dried up due to the extended dry season.
