Prolonged Dry Season Leaves Bogor's Katulampa Weir Almost Completely Dry, Water Level at Zero Centimetres

The prolonged dry season has left the Katulampa Weir in Bogor, West Java, almost completely dry. The water level at the reservoir is now at 0 centimetres. In mid-July 2026, during the dry season, the Water Level at Katulampa Weir had briefly hit the zero mark. However, rain that fell over the previous three nights caused the water level at the legendary weir to rise again to 30 centimetres. By Tuesday afternoon (21/7/2026), the water level had dropped back to 10 centimetres. The dry season does not mean the ‘guardians’ of the Katulampa Weir in Bogor City are idle; instead, they carry out a series of maintenance activities, including clearing sedimentation to ensure the flow in the Upper Ciliwung remains smooth. Behind the constantly monitored water levels, there is the quiet work of officers who remain on alert for the peak of the dry season. Amidst the dry season, officers continue to stand guard to maintain the function of the weir and the Ciliwung River flow. Routine tasks include lubricating the weir gates, checking facilities, and clearing sedimentation.
