Prolonged Dry Season: Dramaga Residents Rely on Clean Water Aid

Jerry cans, buckets, and gallons were lined up before the water tanker arrived in Neglasari Village, Dramaga District, Bogor Regency, on Thursday (16/7/2026). Since mid-May 2026, a prolonged dry season has caused many wells to run dry, triggering a clean water crisis. Now, the distribution of water aid is the mainstay for residents to meet their needs for cooking, drinking, bathing, and washing.

Since 10:00 AM, around 50 residents took turns queuing with buckets and gallons to collect clean water. The Bogor Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) brought 5,000 litres of clean water to assist residents affected by the drought in the area. According to residents, the water crisis hits the area almost every year when the dry season arrives. Without the distribution of clean water aid, residents rely on water from the mosque or buy refillable gallons priced at Rp5,000 each. On average, a household requires 10 gallons daily to meet their needs, from consumption to bathing, washing, and sanitation.

The Bogor Regency BPBD noted that the drought disaster has affected 13 sub-districts out of a total of 40 in Bogor Regency, West Java. As a result, 42,695 residents are experiencing a shortage of clean water. The government has urged the public to conserve clean water, use water wisely according to need, and immediately report to the local government or BPBD if they experience difficulties accessing clean water due to the drought.
