Prolonged Dry Season Causes Citarum Tributary in Bandung Regency to Dry Up

The flow of a Citarum River tributary has dried up in Kampung Sukarame, Cileunyi Kulon Village, Rancaekek District, Bandung Regency, West Java. The Bandung Regency government has declared a drought emergency status from 18 June 2026 to 30 September 2026, following the impact of the 2026 dry season on 27 sub-districts within the regency. The previously flowing river has now transformed into a stretch of dry land, a stark consequence of the drought in Bandung Regency. The diminishing water discharge is beginning to affect water availability for residents and agricultural land in several areas. The Bandung Regency administration, together with relevant agencies, continues to monitor water sources and prepare anticipatory measures to minimise the drought’s impact on the community.
