Proklim field verification becomes platform for sharing climate change knowledge

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Sawah Besar Sub-district Deputy Head, Central Jakarta, Yulia Fransiska assessed that the field verification (verlap) of the Climate Village Programme (Proklim) is not merely an assessment or competition, but rather a means of sharing knowledge and experience in dealing with climate change.

“We view this not only as an assessment, let alone a competition, but more as field verification to become a medium where we share knowledge and experience with each other,” said Yulia when welcoming the Verification Team from the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) in the Proklim Utama field verification at RW 08, Karang Anyar Urban Village, Sawah Besar Sub-district, Thursday.

She said the verification process needs to be utilised to strengthen mutual cooperation and residents’ awareness in protecting the environment, including supporting Governor’s Instruction (Ingub) Number 5 of 2026 concerning the Waste Sorting and Processing Movement from the Source.

Yulia said RW 08 Karang Anyar has demonstrated community awareness through various activities related to the environment, ranging from greening, waste sorting and management, energy saving to water conservation.

She hopes that the practices carried out by the RW 08 community can become an example for other areas in Sawah Besar Sub-district, so that efforts to deal with the impacts of climate change do not stop in one neighbourhood.

“Residents of RW 08 have been very united in showing their concern through various activities. Hopefully what these residents have done can become an inspiration for other urban villages in Sawah Besar Sub-district,” she said.

Meanwhile, Head of the DKI Jakarta DLH Verification Team, Iin, said the field verification was carried out to match the data submitted by RW 08 with the actual conditions on the ground.

“Our purpose in coming here is to match the data on adaptation, mitigation and institutional actions against the proposal that has been submitted to the Environmental Agency. We will check whether the data in the Excel file is appropriate or not,” said Iin.

The Proklim assessment process does not only focus on administrative completeness, but also looks at real community actions in reducing risks due to climate change.

Therefore, the verification team also provides guidance and socialisation so that the community understands the steps that can be taken to deal with the climate crisis.

“We do not only carry out assessments, but will also provide guidance and socialisation on how we should act to overcome the climate crisis,” she said.
