Projo Says Jokowi Has Recovered and Is Ready to Tour Indonesia
Projo has stated that Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is healthy and has recovered from his illness. Jokowi is even said to be planning a tour of Indonesia in June 2026.
This was revealed by Projo’s Secretary General, Freddy Alex Damanik, following a meeting between Jokowi and Projo’s General Chairman Budi Arie earlier this month.
According to Freddy, Jokowi’s condition has recovered 99 per cent and he is ready to tour Indonesia to absorb public aspirations.
“There will be regular meetings between Mr Jokowi and volunteers, agreed once every three months, but Mr Jokowi’s door remains open at any time for his volunteers,” he said.
“Mr Jokowi said 99 per cent (recovered), in June he might already tour Indonesia to greet the people,” he added.
The meeting between Jokowi and Budi Arie took place on Wednesday (1/5) in the Rawamangun area, East Jakarta. In a video uploaded by Freddy, Budi Arie and Jokowi are seen in a dining area.
Budi Arie and Jokowi are said to have spoken privately in a serious manner. Freddy explained that the meeting was for discussions with volunteers.
“There are many volunteer leaders, but in that meeting, Budi Arie and Mr Jokowi had a private conversation for about 20 to 30 minutes,” Freddy stated.
According to Projo, Jokowi’s leadership still influences Indonesian politics. Freddy mentioned that Jokowi will absorb aspirations accompanied by volunteers.
“His words are to greet the people, no specific agenda. But we are convinced that Mr Jokowi is a political figure who is still very much loved by the people and therefore still has influence in Indonesian politics. When he goes down to the community, he will be accompanied by his volunteers,” he explained.
Furthermore, Freddy stated that in the meeting with Budi Arie, there was no discussion about which political party the father of PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep would join.
“In that meeting, Mr Jokowi also stated that to this day he still always receives information and input from Indonesian society from Papua to Aceh about the condition of Indonesian society,” he said.
“To Projo, Mr Jokowi has never said he is joining any party, including inviting Projo to join any party, which is why Projo friends are still in various parties, including in Mas Kaesang’s PSI party, many Projo friends have also joined,” he concluded.
Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo experienced a skin allergy on his face and neck after a visit from the Vatican at the end of May 2025. Jokowi’s personal aide, Police Commissioner Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, assured that the former head of state’s health condition remains good despite the physical change.
He emphasised that what Jokowi experienced is a common allergy, not a rare disease, and was in the recovery process at the time.
