PT PLN (Persero) has completed a series of High-Voltage Consumer (KTT) projects to support the operations of Microsoft’s data centre in the West Java region. This aligns with the goal of positioning Indonesia as one of the centres for digital economic growth in Southeast Asia.

PLN’s Director of Project Management and New Renewable Energy, Suroso Isnandar, emphasised that the completion of these projects drives the provision of electricity supply for world-class data centres. He described the infrastructure development as the company’s effort to transform the national economy.

“PLN views the development of the data centre ecosystem as one of the important pillars in the national economic transformation. Therefore, we are preparing electrical infrastructure that is not only reliable but also adaptive to the evolving needs of the digital industry,” he stated in a written release on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

The completed and operational projects include the 150 kilovolt (kV) Data Center Bay Microsoft Line JKT 11 A & B Substation in the Greenland International Industrial Center (GIIC) area, Cikarang.

In addition, PLN has completed the construction of the 150 kV KIIC II/Margakarya Line JKT 09 and JKT 02 Substation to supply the energy needs of PT Microsoft Operation Indonesia in Karawang.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of PLN’s Central Java Development Main Unit (UIP JBT), Kishartanto Purnomo Putro, stated that the trust of global technology companies in PLN serves as an indicator of Indonesia’s capacity on the international stage. He assured that the readiness of the electrical infrastructure will continue to be enhanced to support investment activities at both local and national scales.

“24-hour electricity reliability is not just a need, but the main foundation for world-class data centre operations. PLN is ready to deliver stable, safe, and sustainable electricity supply to support non-stop digital activities,” he added.

On the other hand, Microsoft’s Energy Asia Pacific Regional Lead, Leo Wirawan, assessed that the reliability and sustainability of electricity supply are key factors in supporting global data centre operations in Indonesia.

“We believe PLN is capable of delivering reliable and sustainable electricity supply. This collaboration is expected to drive the growth of Indonesia’s digital economy,” he said.
