Jakarta (ANTARA) - Michael Umbas, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PT Nindya Karya, said that the overall progress of the Sekolah Rakyat construction in North Sumatra is positive and above the planned target.

As for the physical progress at each site, Michael said Medan City has reached 73.21 per cent of a target of 51.42 per cent, Deli Serdang 55.22 per cent of a target 50.74 per cent; Serdang Bedagai 53.71 per cent of a target 50.93 per cent, South Tapanuli 51.90 per cent of a target 43.17 per cent, and Padang Sidempuan 57.03 per cent of a target 50.07 per cent.

‘The progress of the Sekolah Rakyat Medan construction is very significant and even a national benchmark. All roofs are installed, floor works largely finished, ceilings are progressing well, and we are now in the final stage of MEP works. This is phenomenal. Well done, team,’ he said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Michael appreciated the achievement and highlighted the importance of maintaining development pace, strengthening cross‑agency coordination, and ensuring the quality and safety of work remains a top priority until the project is completed.

‘We are monitoring and ensuring that the Sekolah Rakyat development can be achieved as expected. I applaud the hard work of the entire team who continue to maintain progress and quality of work amid various challenges on site,’ Michael said.

He also commended the progress of the Sekolah Rakyat Kota Medan development, which he described as very significant. The achievement, he added, is a positive indicator that the pace of development is proceeding well and must be maintained through to project completion.

Michael explained that the Sekolah Rakyat development programme in North Sumatra is part of a national strategic project in the education sector with a contract value of around Rp1.2 trillion, with completion targeted for 20 June 2026.

As a national construction company, they remain committed to supporting the development of quality educational infrastructure as a tangible contribution to strengthening human resource development towards Indonesia Emas 2045.
