PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SMGR) is optimistic that its cement business performance will continue to rise through 2026. One of its key strategies involves targeting prospects from government projects, such as the 3 million houses programme and the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ initiative.

Indrieffouny Indra, President Director of SIG, stated that the company is optimistic about the positive prospects for the cement industry towards the end of 2026. This optimism is supported by government programmes that act as drivers for cement demand.

“Ongoing programmes include the 3 million houses programme, the development of the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives, the Merah Putih Fishing Villages, and the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ initiative, alongside national and regional infrastructure development. Additionally, the construction of the Giant Sea Wall is set to commence this year,” Indra said during a Public Expose (Pubex) Live on Tuesday (8/9/2026).

In addition to government projects, performance growth is also supported by industrial investment, downstreaming, and private sector developments, including high-rise residential buildings, commercial areas, and data centres.

Furthermore, SIG is currently undergoing business restructuring to achieve a healthier revenue profile. This is being implemented by strengthening structural resources and governance through the merger of subsidiaries.

“That is why this year we are also conducting streamlining and restructuring of our subsidiaries. We are reorganising and performing several consolidations and mergers at the subsidiary level to ensure optimisation in supporting our business penetration within the building materials industry,” she added.

As part of its market strengthening efforts, SIG is reviving ‘Semen Kujang’, which is the first cement brand in West Java. Semen Kujang has also entered into a strategic partnership as the Official Cement Partner of the PERSIB Bandung football club to reach the retail market base in West Java.

As previously reported, in the first semester of 2026, SIG recorded a net profit increase of 445.9% year-on-year to Rp207 billion. Meanwhile, the profit for the period attributable to the owners of the parent entity grew by 471.0% year-on-year to Rp228 billion.

This growth was supported by a total sales volume of 18.28 million tonnes, an increase of 5.6% year-on-year, primarily driven by strength in the domestic market with sales volumes reaching 14.18 million tonnes, or a growth of 9.7% year-on-year.
