Profile of Saepul, Piscok Seller and Depok Mutilation Perpetrator, His Calm Demeanour Before Investigators Under Scrutiny
The murder and mutilation case that claimed the life of a man named Kunaefi (51) in Depok City continues to grip public attention. As the investigation proceeds, the identity of the perpetrator has been gradually revealed. The individual now named as a suspect is known as Saepul, also called Saepullah (26), a chocolate banana fritter (piscok) seller who operated daily near Pondok Cina Station (Pocin), Depok.
Beyond his occupation, investigators have also disclosed several facts regarding the course of the case, from the initial acquaintance between the perpetrator and the victim, the suspected provisional motive, to Saepul’s confession concerning the mutilation he carried out.
Prior to his arrest, Saepul worked as a piscok trader using a cart around Pondok Cina Station, Depok. The man, born in 2000, relied on this activity for his daily livelihood. However, his name has now come under scrutiny after he was named a suspect in the murder and mutilation of Kunaefi. Police also revealed that after the alleged murder took place, Saepul absconded with the victim’s motorcycle. “After committing the act, the perpetrator took the victim’s motorcycle to Panimbang and sold it,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto.
Preliminary investigation results indicate that Saepul and Kunaefi initially became acquainted through social media. The pair subsequently agreed to meet at a rented room in the Cipayung area, Depok, on 23 July 2026. During questioning, Saepul claimed he had originally invited the victim to his rented room just to chat, as he felt lonely after his housemate no longer lived with him. “Because he came over to the house, and I just needed a friend to talk to. My housemate wasn’t there anymore, because he had last rented the place and didn’t continue,” Saepul stated. According to his confession, the situation then changed when a dispute occurred. Investigators are continuing to verify all statements against the evidence and the results of the inquiry.
