He is charged under Article 378 of the Criminal Code on fraud and Article 372 of the Criminal Code on embezzlement, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code. The maximum penalty for the case is eight years in prison.

Head of the Attorney General’s Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, explained that Richard’s case had actually been transferred to court. However, the defendant never attended the trial and was therefore declared a fugitive.

‘The case file for Defendant Richard Arief Muljadi has been transferred to trial, but the person concerned never appeared, so Defendant Richard Arief Muljadi was placed on the South Kalimantan High Prosecutor’s Office wanted list,’ said Anang.

Richard was detained upon his arrival in Indonesia from Singapore on Saturday, 20 June 2026. The arrest operation was carried out by the Attorney General’s SIRI Task Force together with the Tangerang City Prosecutor’s Office and the Banjarmasin Prosecutor’s Office.

‘The Intelligence Reform and Innovation Task Force (SIRI) of the Attorney General’s Office, together with the Tangerang City Prosecutor’s Office and the Banjarmasin Prosecutor’s Office, successfully secured the fugitive on the wanted list (DPO) from the South Kalimantan High Prosecutor’s Office,’ Anang stated.

The prosecution noted that the detention process went smoothly as Richard was cooperative. Following his arrest, he was immediately handed over to the Banjarmasin Prosecutor’s Office to undergo further legal proceedings.

‘When detained, Defendant Richard Arief Muljadi was cooperative, so the detention process went smoothly. Subsequently, the defendant was handed over to the Banjarmasin Prosecutor’s Office for follow-up,’ said Anang.

Anang also conveyed that Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin has ordered all prosecution ranks to continue hunting down fugitives still on the wanted list to ensure legal certainty and the execution of court decisions.
