Anom Widiyantoro, Regent of Pemalang for the 2025–2030 term, is now in the public spotlight after being caught in a sting operation (Operasi Tangkap Tangan, OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on 28–29 July 2026. Before entering politics, Anom was known as a professional with a long track record within state-owned enterprises (BUMN).

Born in Cimahi on 20 March 1970, Anom Widiyantoro has a strong educational background in financial management, holding a bachelor’s degree from Diponegoro University and a master’s degree from Padjadjaran University.

Prior to being elected Regent, he spent around 25 years building his career at PT Wijaya Karya (WIKA) in various strategic positions, from internal auditor to General Manager.

From 2021 to 2024, he served as Director of Finance, Human Capital and Risk Management at PT Hotel Indonesia Property. This corporate experience shaped his managerial-corporate leadership style, with an emphasis on planning, digitalisation and risk management.

In leading Pemalang Regency alongside Deputy Regent Nurkholes, Anom championed the vision of “Pemalang Bercahaya” (Clean, Capable, Reliable, Noble). This vision was implemented through the RHAPSODI mission, which comprises eight main points.

According to the mandatory wealth report (LHKPN) filed on 26 March 2026, Anom’s total net wealth stands at around Rp21.32 billion. Most of his assets are in land and buildings valued at Rp12.29 billion, with other assets amounting to Rp7.03 billion.

As of 29 July 2026 at 14.42 WIB, Anom Widiyantoro was undergoing intensive questioning at the KPK in connection with alleged project bribery within the Pemalang Regency Government and the buying and selling of official positions. The KPK secured more than Rp2 billion in cash during the operation. Anom’s official legal status has not yet been determined, and the presumption of innocence remains upheld.

As a regent with a technocratic background, Anom was initially expected to bring significant change through bureaucratic reform and digitalisation. However, his entanglement in a legal case in the middle of his term poses a serious challenge to the continuity of priority programmes in Pemalang, including ongoing efforts to reorganise public spaces and alleviate poverty.
