President Prabowo Subianto appointed Major General TNI Trenggono as the Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), replacing Sony Sanjaya, on Tuesday.

Major General Trenggono is a high-ranking officer of the Indonesian Army who previously served as the Deputy President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara. He has been actively involved in overseeing several national programmes, including the Merah Putih Village Cooperative. Born on 21 November 1969, Trenggono graduated from the Military Academy in 1993, specialising in Infantry (Kopassus).

His previous roles include serving as the General Director of the Military Academy from 2023 to 2024, before moving to the Army Development and Research Institute (Seskoad) in Jakarta, where he served as the Director of Research and Development from 2024 to 2025. Additionally, he served as a Special Staff to the Commander of the TNI in 2025.

This appointment is part of a broader leadership reshuffle within the BGN. President Prabowo Subianto also appointed Nanik S. Deyang as the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency, replacing Dadan Hindayana, and Agustina Arumsari as the new Deputy Head, replacing Lodewijk Pusung.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the decision to replace the BGN leadership was made by the President following a period of monitoring and evaluating the agency’s performance over approximately 1.5 years. He noted that the President continuously monitors the performance of the entire cabinet, including the BGN, while receiving input from relevant ministries, the public, and beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

He explained that the BGN plays a strategic role in supporting the government’s agenda to improve public nutritional quality. Consequently, the agency requires strong governance, effective cross-sector coordination, and leadership capable of ensuring all programmes are implemented accurately, on time, and in accordance with the principles of accountability.
