President Prabowo Subianto appointed Major General TNI Trenggono as the new Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) during a reshuffle of the agency’s leadership ranks on Tuesday night. Trenggono replaces Sony Sanjaya and joins a new leadership structure expected to strengthen the execution of strategic programmes in the field of national nutrition.

Major General Trenglar is a high-ranking officer of the Indonesian Army who currently serves as the Deputy President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara. In this role, he has been involved in overseeing several government priority programmes, including the development of the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives.

Born on 21 November 1969, Trenggono is a 1993 graduate of the Military Academy from the Kopassus Infantry. His military career has been spent in various strategic positions within the Indonesian Army.

Prior to his new assignment at the BGN, Trenggono served as the Director of Research and Development at the Army Staff and Command School (Seskoad) for the 2024-2025 period. He held this position after being entrusted as the Director General of the Military Academy from 2023 to 2024. His career also includes a tenure as Special Staff to the Commander of the TNI in 2025. Various positions he has held have established Trenggono as an expert in organisational management, human resource development, and strategic planning.

The appointment of Trenggono is part of a major overhaul within the National Nutrition Agency. In addition to replacing the Deputy Head, the President has also appointed Nanik S. Deyang as the new Head of the BGN, replacing Dadan Hindayana. Meanwhile, the other Deputy Head position is now held by Agustina Arumsari, replacing Lodewijk Pusung. Consequently, the BGN leadership structure has undergone a complete refreshment after approximately one and a half years of operation.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi explained that the leadership change was conducted after the President performed monitoring and evaluation of the BGN’s performance. According to him, the evaluation was based on programme implementation in the field, feedback from relevant ministries, and responses from the public and beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

Prasetyo emphasised that the BGN plays a strategic role in supporting the government’s agenda to improve public nutritional quality. Therefore, the agency requires strong governance, effective cross-sector coordination, and leadership capable of ensuring all programmes are precisely targeted, timely, and aligned with the principles of accountability.
