Profile of Major 'Bear' Windra, Jokowi's Living Shield for 8 Years

Major Inf Windra Sanur has fulfilled his duties as the living shield for the seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. After eight years of escorting Jokowi, Major Windra now shoulders a new responsibility as Chief of Staff of the Tigaraksa Military District Command (Kasdim) in Tangerang Regency. Previously, Windra served as Deputy Commander of Detachment 4 of the Presidential Security Force Group (Paspampres). From gathered information, Windra is a graduate of the Army Non-Commissioned Officer Candidate School (Secaba AD) in 1996. He once served as a Kopassus sniper in 1999 and held the position of platoon commander for Kopassus Provos in Cijantung. In 2019, Windra finally became a member of Paspampres after passing the selection process. He joined Group A of Paspampres, which is directly responsible for securing Jokowi during his presidency until the end of his term. Windra holds the rank of Major and has been part of the Indonesian Army’s mid-level officer cadre since 1 October 2025. On his last day accompanying Jokowi, Windra, dressed in camouflage uniform, bid farewell directly to the man from Solo, accompanied by his wife. Windra, often called ‘Bear’, admitted to packing his belongings stored at Griya Kutai 8, typically used as the quarters for Jokowi’s Paspampres guards. “Alhamdulillah, I have received the trust of a new position and duty as Kasdim Tigaraksa, Tangerang Regency,” said Windra when met in Sumber, Banjarsari, on Tuesday (21/4), quoted from detikJateng. Windra said he could not describe his feelings about leaving Jokowi after accompanying him for eight years. Over those years, Windra revealed many extraordinary experiences he gained, especially in transforming his life. “With him, extraordinary memories, much that I learned for life. An extraordinary change for me,” he stated. Furthermore, Windra conveyed that he also received guidance from Jokowi to continue his career as an Indonesian National Army soldier. “This is his (Jokowi’s) guidance to learn more, to be a soldier like that. Because so far it’s been about reprimanding people, coincidentally I have never been in territorial roles. I come from combat forces, previously not territorial, and now territorial as Kasdim in Tangerang Regency,” he explained.
