The name Kuntadi has come under the spotlight after being proposed for the position of Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office. The Presidential Palace confirmed that the letter proposing Kuntadi was received by President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday (14/7). The news was confirmed by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi on Wednesday (15/7). Kuntadi is projected to replace Febrie Adriansyah, who resigned from the Jampidsus post. However, as of Wednesday, 15 July 2026, Kuntadi has not yet been officially inaugurated. His status remains that of an official proposed for the position. Kuntadi currently serves as Head of the Asset Recovery Agency (BPA) of the Republic of Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office. Before leading the BPA, he held a number of strategic positions, including Director of Investigations at Jampidsus, Head of the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office, and Head of the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office. Kuntadi was born in Semarang, Central Java, on 4 January 1970. He completed his legal education, earning a Doctorate in Law from Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed). He is also recorded as an alumnus of Unsoed’s Faculty of Law. Kuntadi’s career at the prosecution service began in 1996. He started his service as a prospective civil servant with a placement as an administrative staff member within the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes. After becoming a prosecutor, Kuntadi undertook various assignments in the regions and at the Attorney General’s Office. In 1999, he was recorded as serving as a functional prosecutor at the Metro District Prosecutor’s Branch Office in Sukadana. His career then continued as a Coordinator at the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office around 2012 to 2013. After that, he was entrusted to become Head of the Lubuklinggau District Prosecutor’s Office for the 2013-2014 period. Kuntadi also served within the Junior Attorney General for Intelligence as Head of Sub-Directorate V.B in Directorate V. From 2017 to 2019, he was entrusted to lead the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office. Before returning to the special crimes field, Kuntadi was also recorded as having served as General Assistant to the Attorney General and as Assistant for Civil and State Administrative Affairs at the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office. Kuntadi’s name became more widely known to the public when he served as Director of Investigations at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes during the 2022-2024 period. The Director of Investigations position is considered strategic because it is at the forefront of handling large-scale corruption and special crime cases. During Kuntadi’s leadership of the Jampidsus Investigation Directorate, the directorate handled a number of major cases. These included the alleged corruption case in the construction of BTS 4G BAKTI infrastructure for the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, the case of granting crude palm oil (CPO) export facilities, and the alleged corruption in sugar importation at the Ministry of Trade. The directorate also handled the Besitang-Langsa railway construction case, alleged fictitious projects within a telecommunications company, and a case concerning the management of gold commodity business activities. However, the handling of these cases cannot be viewed as Kuntadi’s personal work. Investigations were carried out by a team of investigating prosecutors within the Jampidsus Investigation Directorate structure and under the coordination of the Attorney General’s Office leadership. For his track record in the field of corruption eradication, Kuntadi received the Adhyaksa Awards 2024 in the category of Tough Prosecutor in Corruption Eradication. At the time of receiving the award, he was still serving as Director of Investigations at Jampidsus. After completing his duties as Director of Investigations at Jampidsus, Kuntadi was assigned as Head of the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office in August 2024. His career continued when the Attorney General inaugurated him as Head of the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office on 23 April 2025. He replaced Mia Amiati, who entered retirement. The appointment was based on Attorney General’s Order Number PRIN-23/A/JA/04/2025. During his leadership of the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Kuntadi not only supervised the handling of criminal cases. He also encouraged the strengthening of the civil and state administrative field, including providing legal opinions to local governments and state- or regionally-owned enterprises. His assignment in East Java ended after the President appointed him as Head of the Asset Recovery Agency of the Republic of Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office.
