Profile of Kuntadi, Proposed as New Jampidsus to Replace Febrie

Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin has proposed the Head of the Asset Recovery Agency (BPA), Kuntadi, to fill the position of Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus). The proposal was submitted by Burhanuddin to President Prabowo Subianto after Febrie Adriansyah resigned and was named a suspect in a corruption and money laundering (TPPU) case. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed the submission of Kuntadi’s name for the new Jampidsus role, stating that the letter was received on Tuesday (14/7). Kuntadi is no stranger to the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung). Born in Semarang, Central Java, on 4 January 1970, he has an extensive track record in handling special crime cases. A graduate of the Faculty of Law at Jenderal Soedirman University, he began his career as an administrative staff member at the Kejagung. In 1999, Kuntadi became a prosecutor at the Metro District Prosecutor’s Office in Sukadana. He later served as a Coordinator at the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office from 2012 to 2013. Kuntadi was subsequently appointed Head of the Linggau District Prosecutor’s Office before returning to the Kejagung in 2014 as Head of Sub-Directorate V.B. His career progressed with his appointment as Head of the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office from 2017 to 2019, followed by a role as Assistant for General Affairs to the Attorney General. Kuntadi was then appointed Director of Investigations at the Kejagung from 2022 to 2024, after which he was moved to lead the Lampung and East Java High Prosecutor’s Offices. Most recently, he was promoted to Head of the Asset Recovery Agency in 2025. During his tenure as Director of Investigations, Kuntadi led the handling of several major corruption cases involving massive state losses. One prominent case was the 4G BTS project corruption at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, which caused state losses of up to Rp8 trillion and implicated 16 individuals, including former Minister Johnny G Plate. He also led the investigation into corruption within PT Timah, which resulted in state losses of around Rp300 trillion and drew public attention for implicating Harvei Moeis, the husband of celebrity Sandra Dewi, as a suspect. Another significant case uncovered under his leadership was the alleged corruption in the provision of crude palm oil (CPO) export facilities, estimated to have caused state losses of approximately Rp20 trillion.
