Profile of Hernawan Bekti Sasongko, Deputy Chair of OJK Selected by Commission XI
Jakarta — Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives has appointed Hernawan Bekti Sasongko as Deputy Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Sasongko was selected following a fitness and propriety assessment on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Sasongko is not new to the OJK. He currently serves as a member of the OJK’s Supervisory Board, a position he has held since 2023. Additionally, he has been listed as a commissioner of PT Kliring Berjangka Indonesia since 2022.
Prior to these roles, Sasongko worked as a career official at Bank Indonesia before transitioning to the OJK. During his tenure at the OJK, he served as Deputy Commissioner for Strategic Management (2016-2017), Senior Advisor/Deputy Commissioner of the Strategic Committee (2017-2020), and Deputy Commissioner for International Affairs and Research (2020-2022).
At Bank Indonesia, Sasongko served as Senior Economist for Bank Indonesia’s New York office (2003-2006) and Head of Division/Senior Economic Analyst at the International Department of Bank Indonesia (2010-2013).
He also previously served as an independent commissioner of PT Elnusa Tbk (ELSA) from 2022 to 2024.
According to PT KBI’s website, Sasongko graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Christian University of Indonesia (Universitas Kristen Indonesia). He later pursued a master’s degree at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia.
In addition to Sasongko’s appointment, Commission XI has also appointed Friderica Widyasari Dewi as Chair of the OJK’s Board of Commissioners, Hasan Fawzi as Head of Capital Market Supervision, Adi Budiarso as Head of Financial Innovation Technology Supervision (covering digital financial assets and cryptocurrency), and Dicky Kartikoyono as Head of Financial Services Business Conduct Supervision, Education, and Consumer Protection.
