Profile of Hasan Nasbi: President's Special Envoy for Communications
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Hasan Nasbi today, Monday (27/4/2026), who previously served as Presidential Special Advisor for Communications.
Hasan Nasbi was previously the head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) before resigning in April 2025.
Hasan Nasbi is known as one of the spokespersons for the National Campaign Team of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka during the 2024 presidential election.
The man born in Bukittinggi on 11 October 1979 is recognised as a figure with a long track record in politics, communications, and government.
Hasan Nasbi pursued higher education at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia (FISIP UI), earning a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2004.
Since his university days, he has been active in student organisations. Hasan is recorded as having served as Chairman of the Muslim Students’ Association (HMI) UI Branch in 2000.
Hasan spent a long time in the academic and political research world. He was a researcher at the Centre for Political Studies, University of Indonesia, until 2008. From there, his name became known as an observer and consultant in the field of public opinion.
Hasan’s career then continued by founding Cyrus Network, a well-known political consultancy and research institution in Indonesia. Through this institution, Hasan actively conducted surveys, political analysis, and public communication strategies.
A key point in his political career occurred in 2011, when he met Joko Widodo (Jokowi), who was then Mayor of Solo and beginning to be mentioned as a strong candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta.
In the 2012 Jakarta Regional Election, Hasan Nasbi was entrusted to coordinate the volunteer team for the Jokowi-Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) pair. The victory of that pair became one of the important moments in Jokowi’s national political journey.
