Profile of Goethe-Institut Jakarta
Established: 1961
Network: One of the Federal Republic of Germany's global cultural
institutes named as regional institute for Southeast Asia,
Australia and New Zealand.
Background: Through the network, the Goethe-Institut plays an
important role in providing access to language and German culture
all over the world. It promotes a wider knowledge of the German
language abroad and fosters cultural cooperation with other
countries.

Activities:
- Courses: German language
- Cultural: Performances, exhibitions, discussions, workshops,
seminars, exchanges on arts, culture, film, music, politics and
sciences held in Goethe Hause with a 301-seat capacity, modern
stage, gallery-lobby; and services for teachers of the German
language.
- Library: Collection of books, newspapers, magazines,
references, multimedia on the German language, arts, literature
and culture; as well as services for librarians and the internet.
Information: Information service on German arts and culture,
study in Germany, information on Indonesian-German ties.
- Aid: Translation aid program
- Others: - Cooperation with the Bandung Institute of Technology
in collecting books on the arts, architecture and design.
