Profile of Febri Diansyah, Former KPK Spokesperson Now Defending Ex-Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah
Febri Diansyah has been confirmed as the legal counsel for former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah. Diansyah made the statement after accompanying the former Jampidsus at the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta. "I have just become (Febrie Adriansyah’s lawyer); this is the first examination process I have attended," Diansyah said at the Attorney General’s Office building in South Jakarta on Friday, 24 July 2026. Diansyah stated that his client was cooperative during questioning by the Attorney General’s Office investigative team. The examination lasted from 14.00 WIB until 19.00 WIB. "At 19.00 WIB, the investigators informed us that Mr FA’s status is now a suspect, and they provided two documents: one on the suspect determination and another on the detention order. So, at 19.00, we received two documents, the suspect determination and the detention order. The earlier examination process was as a witness, because the summons was for a witness regarding the investigation warrant for money laundering," he continued. Febri Diansyah was born in Padang on 8 February 1983. He pursued his undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University, graduating in 2007. He specialised in civil law, citing the then-prevalent discussions on contracts of work by multinational corporations exploiting Indonesia’s natural resources as his motivation. After graduating, Diansyah joined the anti-corruption non-governmental organisation Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW). He later became widely known to the public after serving as the spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Prior to this role, he was a functional staff member in the KPK’s Gratification Directorate. He served as KPK spokesperson from early December 2016, but his career at the anti-graft body lasted only four years, as he resigned in September 2020. Following his departure from the KPK, Diansyah co-founded the Visi Law Office with fellow former ICW activist Donal Fariz. He had previously stated that his law firm was committed to not handling corruption cases.
