The Pancasila Day ceremony was held at the Pancasila Building, which now serves as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office. The building is where Sukarno delivered his speech outlining the ‘Pancasila’ concept as the nation’s foundation during a BPUPKI meeting on June 1, 1945. Every year, June 1 is commemorated as Pancasila Day, marking the anniversary of Bung Karno’s speech. In his address at the 2026 Pancasila Day ceremony, Prabowo Subianto called on all parties to reflect on equitable growth in Indonesia. “Over the past few decades, the economy has grown, but has this growth been evenly distributed? Has it been fairly felt by all Indonesians? Let us honestly confront the realities we face today,” Prabowo said. Prabowo stated that all parties must acknowledge the nation’s weaknesses and challenges. He noted Indonesia is a nation with abundant natural resources. However, he stated that this wealth has not been evenly enjoyed by all citizens. “For too long, our people have been mere spectators to their own wealth,” he added.
