Profile of Chatarina Muliana: From Head of Bali Prosecutor's Office to Head of Attorney General's Asset Recovery Centre
Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has conducted a mutation of 14 Heads of Regional Prosecutor’s Offices (Kajati) across Indonesia. One of those mutated is Chatarina Muliana Girsang from Head of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office (Kajati) Bali to Head of the Attorney General’s Asset Recovery Centre.
The change is based on Attorney General’s Decree Number 488 of 2026 dated 13 April 2026. The replacement of the top leadership at the Bali Regional Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati) has drawn significant public attention.
It is known that Chatarina herself has only been in office for about six months as Kajati Bali. Based on the latest Attorney General’s Decree, the position of Kajati Bali is now filled by Setiawan Budi Cahyono, who was previously Director IV in the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence.

Chatarina Muliana is a woman born on 19 November 1972. She is an alumnus of Brawijaya University and the School of Economics and Business (STIE) YAI Jakarta in 2007.
She continued her education at Padjadjaran University, before finally earning a Doctorate (S3) in Law from Airlangga University in 2019. Not only accomplished in academics, Chatarina also has an illustrious career track record in the prosecutorial world.
Chatarina is recorded as a prosecutor at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) from 2005 to 2011. During her tenure at the KPK, Chatarina was involved in handling several cases related to violence and violations in the education environment.
Chatarina has handled 127 school violence cases. The details are 7 cases in 2021, 68 cases (2022), and 52 (2023). In addition, Chatarina also handled 50 sexual violence cases, with 22 cases occurring at the junior high school, high school, and vocational high school levels, and 28 cases at the elementary school level.
Before that, she began her career as a prosecutor in the Special Staff of the Attorney General from 2000 to 2001. Then she became Head of Sub-Section for Monetary Economy at the Bekasi District Prosecutor’s Office from 2001 to 2005.
From 2005 to 2011, Chatarina served as a Prosecutor. Then, from 2011 to 2013, she held the position of Head of the Regulation Planning Division in the Legal Bureau. From 2013 to 2015, Chatarina served as Head of the Legal Bureau.
In 2015, she was transferred to the Ministry of Education and Culture as Special Staff to the Minister of Education and Culture in the Field of Education and Culture Regulation until 2020. During the era of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim, Chatarina was appointed as Acting Rector (Plt) of Sebelas Maret University (UNS) in January 2024, replacing the previous rector who resigned.
In 2025, Chatarina also briefly served as Acting Rector of Manado State University (Unima). Still in the same year, Chatarina then served as Kajati Bali, replacing I Ketut Sumedana since 23 October 2025.
