JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The DPR has officially inaugurated Adela Kanasya Adies as a member of the DPR, replacing Adies Kadir for the 2026-2029 period.

It is known that Adies himself was previously the Deputy Chairman of the DPR before being appointed as a Constitutional Court (MK) justice, replacing Arief Hidayat.

“We wish to inform that the council leadership has received an excerpt of the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 49P of 2026 dated 21 April 2026 regarding the official interim appointment of members of the House of Representatives and members of the People’s Consultative Assembly for the remaining term of 2026-2029, namely Ms Adela Kanasya Adies from the Golkar Party Faction, East Java I Electoral District, replacing Mr Adies Kadir,” stated DPR Speaker Puan Maharani during the 18th plenary session of the V Session Period of the 2025-2026 Session Year, on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

Based on Kompas.com’s search on the official website of the General Elections Commission (KPU) of East Java RI, Adies Kadir ran as a candidate for DPR RI member in the 2024 Legislative Election (Pileg) from the East Java I electoral district (Dapil), covering the areas of Surabaya and Sidoarjo.

Meanwhile, the second position in terms of the highest vote count for the Golkar Party in the same Dapil was held by Adela Kanasya Adies, the daughter of Adies Kadir, with 12,792 votes.

Adela Kanasya Adies is known to be a graduate of the S1 Medicine programme at Universitas Airlangga (Unair).

At the same state university, Adies Kadir’s daughter also continued with the Doctor of Medicine programme.

After graduating, Adela briefly worked as an aesthetic medical practitioner at L’viors Clinic in Jakarta. Her name as a doctor is also registered as a member of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI).

Adies’s oath-taking, witnessed by Prabowo, was held at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (5/2/2026).

This oath reading was based on Presidential Decree Number 9/P of 2026 regarding the dismissal and appointment of constitutional justices, submitted by the DPR.

“I swear by God that I will fulfil my duties as a constitutional justice to the best of my ability and as fairly as possible, uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and carry out all laws and regulations as straightforwardly as possible in accordance with the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and serve the nation and the people,” read the oath recited by Adies.

“Of course, at the MK there are rules. If there is considered to be a conflict of interest, the justice will automatically recuse themselves from the panel or chamber, yes, I might also take such steps if there are cases related to the Golkar Party,” stated Adies.
