Prof. Sukardi Officially Inaugurated as Rector of Mataram University for 2026-2030 Period

The Minister of Higher Education, Research and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), Prof. Brian Yuliarto, officially inaugurated Professor Sukardi as Rector of Mataram University (Unram) for the 2026-2030 period. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Graha Dikti Saintek building, Floor 2, Building D, Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Technology, on Tuesday (10/3/2026).

The Unram Rector inauguration was attended by Vice Chair of Commission X of the House of Representatives for West Nusa Tenggara Electoral District Lalu Hardian Irfani, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Prof. Fauzan, Chair of Unram’s Senate, Vice Rectors and Deans, and other leading figures.

Following the inauguration of the new rector, Brian Yuliarto emphasised the importance of strengthening campuses as agents of social change and education with real impact. He requested that campuses not merely be places for producing knowledge, but also become centres of innovation that provide tangible contributions to societal and national progress.

Meanwhile, Sukardi stated that the Minister of Higher Education requested emphasis on the importance of integrity in campus management. According to him, adaptive and visionary campus leaders are needed to face global dynamics.

“I am certainly committed to continuing the achievements of the previous Rector of Unram whilst simultaneously strengthening Unram’s transformation,” Sukardi stated when contacted by detikBali on Tuesday afternoon.

Sukardi invited the entire Unram community to move together in building a campus that is increasingly advanced, excellent, and impactful.

“We ensure that Unram is not only excellent in academic terms, but also provides tangible contributions to the economic, social and cultural development of the West Nusa Tenggara community,” he said.

Meanwhile, Unram Rector for the 2022-2026 period, Prof. Bambang Hari Kusumo, emphasised that during his tenure, Unram’s achievements were considerable. He acknowledged his contribution to the process of Prof. Sukardi’s selection.

“This provides an advantage for the new Rector because he already understands the context and priorities that must be continued,” he stated.

Bambang said he would continue to support all strategic steps that Prof. Sukardi would take for the advancement of Mataram University.
