Prof. Sudarnoto Urges Strengthening of Asia-Pacific Grassroots Movements for Palestine
The President of the Asia Pacific Coalition for Quds and Palestine (APCQP), Prof. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, has emphasised the importance of strengthening civil society movements in support of Palestinian independence. This call was made while leading a consolidation of hundreds of community elements during an event titled ‘Voices of Peace from Indonesia for the World and Palestinian Independence’. The event took place at the Kolabora Kebaikan Hall, Rumah Zakat Office, Bandung, on Friday (18/9/2026).
Addressing approximately 130 leaders from various sectors, Prof. Sudarnoto expressed his appreciation for the high level of enthusiasm from the people of Bandung and its surrounding areas.
“On behalf of the coalition, we express our deepest gratitude to the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Kolabora Kebaikan, Qudwah Indonesia, and particularly Rumah Zakat, which have synergised to organise this strategic meeting,” he began.
“Humanitarian movements from various community nodes must continue to be strengthened as a form of real and sustainable support for Palestinian independence,” Prof. Sudarnoto added, emphasising the point.
Vision to Unify Movements in the Asia-Pacific
Prof. Sudarnoto’s grand idea to unite cross-sectoral forces is being tactically implemented by the ranks under his coalition. The Executive Director of the Headquarters of the Asia Pacific Coalition for Quds and Palestine, who is also the CEO of Rumah Zakat, Irvan Nugraha, explained that the coalition continues to work as a hub and aggregator.
“We are mobilising the community, scholars, academics, youth, women, and other parties to move together in defence of Palestine, not only in Indonesia but also across the Asia-Pacific region,” he asserted.
At the same venue, Lukman Hakim, the President Director of Qudwah Indonesia and also the Coalition’s Programme Director, echoed this sentiment. “We hope that all entities will set aside sectoral egos and strengthen collective collaboration for the sake of humanity,” Lukman explained.
