Jombang (ANTARA) - Steering Committee (SC) Secretary of the 35th NU Congress Prof M Nuh said the two main agendas in the congress series have been passed smoothly according to schedule at the Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, East Java.

The two agendas were the first plenary session, which discussed preparations and the congress agenda, and the second plenary session, which discussed the accountability report of the Nahdlatul Ulama Central Board (PBNU) for the 2022-2027 period.

“Alhamdulillah, the two main agendas, the two plenaries, have been passed very well,” said Prof Nuh in Jombang on Friday evening (28/8).

He explained that the second plenary session began with an introduction from the Rais Aam of PBNU before the Chairman of PBNU delivered the board’s accountability report.

Views on the report were then delivered through representatives of the Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Boards (PWNU), given that the number of Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Boards (PCNU) across Indonesia reaches hundreds, making it impossible for all of them to deliver their views directly.

The PWNU representatives were divided by region, from Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua, Java including Madura, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), as well as a representative of the PCI Japan.

“From the sampling that delivered views, 11 including PCI Japan, all accepted it well. Of course there were some suggestions and so on, but in principle they accepted it well,” he said.

He added that based on the views of the representatives, the forum then concluded that the PBNU accountability report, covering both the Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah elements, could be accepted well.

After the two plenary agendas, he said, the congress continued with parallel commission sessions, including the Bahtsul Masail ad-Diniyah al Maudlu’iyyah commission, the Bahtsul Masail ad-Diniyah al-Waqi’iyyah commission, the Bahtsul Masail ad-Diniyah al-Qonuniyyah commission, the organisation commission, the programme commission, and recommendations.

Prof Nuh said the commission sessions discussed a number of materials that are follow-ups to the results of the NU National Deliberation and Grand Conference as well as materials specifically discussed at the Congress.

He confirmed that the entire series of activities is still running according to schedule. The results of the commission discussions will subsequently be brought to the plenary session for ratification, including the discussion of the rules of procedure for the election of the PBNU leadership.

“This is according to schedule. Alhamdulillah, on track,” he said.
