Prof. Elfahmi elected as Rector of Itera for 2026–2030
Bandarlampung (ANTARA) – Professor Elfahmi, from the Bandung Institute of Technology’s Faculty of Pharmacy, has been elected Rector of Institut Teknologi Sumatera (Itera) for the period 2026–2030 in a closed vote held by Itera’s Senate together with the Minister of Education, Research, and Technology. ‘Based on the vote, Professor Elfahmi secured 91.30 per cent of the vote. Meanwhile, the two other candidates, Professor Aswan from ITB and Professor Faiz Syuaib from Bogor Agricultural University, each received 4.35 per cent,’ said Itera Senate chairman Dr. Sunarsih in Lampung on Wednesday. He explained that the votes came from a composition of 65 per cent from the attending senate and 35 per cent from the Minister, in accordance with the Ministerial Regulation on the Appointment and Dismissal of Leaders of State Universities No. 19 of 2017. ‘The rector election was attended by 15 members of the senate out of 17, together with the Minister of Education, Research, and Technology, who delegated to the Minister’s Expert Staff for Strengthening the Higher Education, Science and Technology Ecosystem, Dr. Muhamad Hasan Chabibie,’ he said. He stated that the entire rector election process was conducted honestly, objectively and with integrity. ‘Congratulations to Professor Elfahmi on his election as Rector of Itera for 2026–2030,’ he added. He also expressed thanks to Professor Dr. I Nyoman Pugeg Aryantha, who will complete his term on 30 June. ‘The Itera Senate will next submit the election results to the Minister of Education, Research, and Technology for the process of appointment and inauguration of the elected rector,’ he said. Itera Rector Professor Dr. I Nyoman Pugeg Aryantha also expressed appreciation to all senate members and the organising committee for the smooth rectoral election process.
