Productivity and quality
Productivity and quality
From Berita Buana
Chairman of Indonesian Quality Management Association Sudomo suggested that the Center for National Productivity and Quality Development be established in the not too distant future. Like an NGO, this institution must be independent and self-supporting in order to keep on the same path as the productivity and quality program of existing companies in this country.
Sudomo, who is also the chairman of the Supreme Advisory Body, expressed his concern over the quality month movement launched by President Soeharto in 1991, because there was no obvious impact.
This organization may need a lot of financial support, but the funds could hopefully be solicited from conglomerates in the form of loans. The funds required might not exceed Rp 3 billion. The money collected could be deposited in a bank, with only the interest used to finance operational programs. Or, a certain percentage of state companies' profits could be allocated to support the project. It is here that we need to see discipline and working ethics are strictly upheld. They are even the key to the company's success.
The issue of productivity and quality calls for early and due considerations, especially with regard to the year 2000.
