The Chairman of the Indonesian Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Association (Asprindo), who is also the owner of the Jorindo Business Group, Jose Rizal, held a commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday on Thursday, 27 August 2026 at Graha Jorindo, South Jakarta.

The entrepreneur from Aceh also invited two Acehnese community organisations in Jakarta, namely Taman Iskandar Muda (TIM) and Keluarga Ureung Pidie (KUPI).

This year’s Maulid commemoration was packaged differently. Before the religious lecture, the event began with a presentation and discussion on the theme ‘Building Independence through Productive Waqf’.

The Secretary General of Asprindo, Ana Mustamin, who presented the material, invited the three organisations to collaborate in promoting Productive Waqf. The aim is to improve the community’s economy, particularly within Asprindo, KUPI, and TIM.

‘Waqf funds can in principle be developed in various sharia investment instruments. The collected waqf funds can become capital for productive businesses. This can fund the social activities of the organisation, and can be one of the solutions for strengthening the community’s economy,’ said Ana.

According to Ana, the collection of waqf has so far been less than optimal, because we always assume that only the wealthy can make waqf. In fact, waqf can be done with cash waqf in small amounts.

Meanwhile, the Maulid preacher, Muzakkir, as Vice Chairman of the Asprindo Supervisory Board, reminded the audience of the essence of the Maulid commemoration.

‘The Maulid commemoration in principle invites us to reflect: to what extent and in what ways have we emulated the Prophet Muhammad in our daily lives, whether as individuals, entrepreneurs, or members of society,’ said Muzakkir.

The Chairman of Asprindo, Jose Rizal, in his speech expressed gratitude and thankfulness for being able to bring together and synergise the three organisations in one forum. ‘We must build and cultivate collaboration and cooperation so that we are strong and empowered.’

‘TIM and KUPI are Acehnese community organisations in Jakarta. By synergising, we hope to provide greater benefits, not only for members, but also for the wider community,’ said Jose Rizal.

Also present at the event were the Chairman of TIM, Muslim Armas, and the Chairman of KUPI, Asfifuddin.
