Producing World-Class Researchers, BRIN Strengthens Talent Management through Character Approach
The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has reaffirmed its commitment to producing world-class scientists who excel not only intellectually but also possess high integrity. This strategic step is being realised through talent management collaboration with Ary Ginanjar University (UAG University).
BRIN Head, Prof. Arif Satria, stated that talent management is the most appropriate path to enhance the quality of human capital within BRIN. He conveyed this during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the BRIN Thamrin Building in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3).
Prof. Arif emphasised that BRIN’s primary goal is to produce researchers whose work can bring real change and gain global recognition.
“We want to produce world-class researchers who are impactful, whose work brings tangible progress, not just routine research activities,” Prof. Arif asserted firmly.
According to him, to achieve such global standards, intellectual intelligence alone is insufficient. A strong character foundation is needed so that researchers have resilience in facing complex research challenges.
“Excellence in research does not solely rely on intellectual intelligence, but also requires a strong character foundation. The ESQ approach is deemed relevant in shaping intelligent, integrity-driven researchers with resilience to face global research challenges,” he added.
In efforts to produce world-class researchers, BRIN promotes the spirit of Khairunnas, becoming the human who is most beneficial to others.
Prof. Arif hopes that BRIN researchers will have a soul united with their research, so that the innovations produced can be absorbed by industry to strengthen the nation’s competitiveness.
“Research must have impact. The spirit we encourage among BRIN researchers is the Khairunnas spirit, becoming the human most beneficial to others through research and innovation,” he explained.
In line with this vision, Founder of UAG, Prof. (Hon.) Ary Ginanjar Agustian, explained that his institution has developed a data-based talent management system to ensure human resource development is on the right track. Currently, this method has been trialled on around 1,100 BRIN researchers.
“If we can find the right people and develop them, then our research will have a significant impact. This is what we want to promote together, so that Indonesia in the future truly becomes a research-based nation,” said Prof. (Hon.) Ary Ginanjar.
Through systematic talent management, BRIN is optimistic about minimising resource barriers and accelerating the emergence of top scientists who will make Indonesia increasingly respected on the international stage.
