Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Prodia Widyahusada is promoting HPV screening using a self-collection method through its My HPV-Test service. In line with the government’s commitment to eliminate cervical cancer by 2030, PT Prodia Widyahusada, supported by Roche Indonesia’s Diagnostics Division, has launched the My HPV-Test service to provide convenience and privacy for women undergoing HPV screening. ‘We want screening to become part of a routine healthy lifestyle and empower women. Partnering with Roche Indonesia, we have introduced a service that enables Indonesian women to directly control their health,’ said Liana Kuswandi, President Director of PT Prodia Widyahusada Tbk, in a statement on Sunday. This initiative is a concrete support for the National Action Plan, which emphasizes pentahelix collaboration to accelerate nationwide early detection coverage. This step is crucial as cervical cancer remains a leading health issue for Indonesian women, often developing without symptoms due to undetected high-risk HPV infections. The introduction of this medically accurate self-testing method is expected to overcome these barriers and encourage more women to undergo early detection. Unlike conventional methods, My HPV-Test allows women to self-collect samples using a special swab at home, without the need for a healthcare professional to take the sample. The test uses Real-Time PCR technology to detect 14 high-risk HPV genotypes linked to cervical cancer, including types 16 and 18, which account for the majority of global cervical cancer cases. This approach is expected to boost women’s participation in regular screening through a more comfortable and convenient experience. The My HPV-Test screening service is now accessible via the U by Prodia app, giving women full control to conduct early detection independently with ease and comfort. ‘Self-collection methods effectively address psychological barriers and discomfort during screening,’ she added. Regular screening and early detection are key to reducing cervical cancer rates in Indonesia. As part of ongoing education, the public can access cervical cancer and early detection information at the digital literacy hub ayocekhpv.com, ensuring Indonesian women have accurate understanding of risks and prevention steps. Through this strategic partnership, Roche and Prodia aim to inspire more stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and expand access in the cervical cancer elimination movement.
