Probolinggo's Kartini Produces Intelligent and Equal Generations through People's School
Susilowati has proven that women today are not only capable of pursuing higher education but also of becoming leaders who bring significant change to the world of education. Probolinggo (ANTARA) - “We want this school to develop in the future. To live up to its motto, Intelligent Together, Growing Equally. To match the capabilities and levels of other leading schools,” said Susilowati regarding her hopes for Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi (SRT) 7 in Probolinggo City. Susilowati is a female teacher who serves as the Principal of SRT 7 in Probolinggo City, East Java. She was selected to lead the Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi to produce high-achieving students through an integrated boarding education system. This school is not just an ordinary educational institution but part of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority government programme targeted at children from poor and extremely poor families, strictly selected based on the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN). The goal is to break the intergenerational chain of poverty so that graduates have a better standard of living. Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi (SRT) 7 in Probolinggo City is part of the initial 100 locations of the national Sekolah Rakyat programme launched on 14 July 2025. The school emphasises integrated learning, digitalisation, and skill provision for students. The school combines junior secondary (SMP) and senior secondary (SMA) levels in one integrated system. Susilowati began her teaching career in a classroom in the district. Her dedication as an English teacher has long been proven before fate led her to pass the selection for the top leadership position at Sekolah Rakyat. “I was previously an English teacher at SMA Negeri Satu Tongas, Probolinggo Regency,” said Susilowati. Susilowati’s presence at SRT 7 Probolinggo provides inspiration for students from underprivileged families who have the spirit to change their fate. The journey to the principal position was not easy. Out of three colleagues from her original school who applied, only Susilowati passed. However, she had to compete with 15 other top candidates from Probolinggo Regency. Through three selection stages, from administrative screening, written exams, to in-depth interviews, she proved that women’s competence should not be underestimated.
