Probolinggo, East Java (ANTARA) - The Probolinggo Regency Government is conducting a trial of an online ticketing system in the Mount Bromo tourist area to improve the quality of tourism services in Probolinggo Regency, East Java.

The trial is being carried out coinciding with two major events, namely the Bromo Sunset Music and Culture at Seruni Point and the Bromo Medic Run, which are being utilised as an opportunity for direct socialisation to tourists amid the high number of visitors,” said the Head of the Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office (Disporapar) of Probolinggo Regency, Heri Mulyadi, in his statement in Probolinggo, East Java, on Wednesday.

According to him, the implementation of online tickets is a strategic step towards more modern and transparent tourism management, as the trial is part of efforts to improve services to tourists while promoting transparency and accountability in digital ticket management.

“The system not only makes it easier for tourists to purchase tickets but also helps regulate visitor flow to make it more orderly and controlled,” he added.

With the online system, he continued, tourists are expected to already have tickets before arriving at the location, thereby reducing queues and congestion at the tourist area entrance.

During the trial implementation, Disporapar officers are stationed at several strategic points to provide information and direct visitors who do not yet have tickets to make purchases online first.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Destination and Tourism Industry Division of Disporapar Probolinggo, Umi Subiyantiningsih, said there are still obstacles in implementing the online ticketing system, such as uneven understanding among tourists, limited access to digital payments, and internet network conditions in some areas.

“We realise there are still challenges, especially regarding digital literacy and network infrastructure. However, this will serve as material for evaluation for future improvements,” she said.

In the future, she continued, Disporapar Probolinggo will increase the intensity of socialisation, strengthen internet networks in the tourist area, and provide transaction assistance services for tourists facing difficulties.

“We hope that the public and tourists can support this system as a step towards more professional, orderly, and sustainable tourism management,” she stated.
