Probolinggo Police Deploy Dozens of Personnel to Secure Yadnya Kasada Ceremony
Probolinggo, East Java - Probolinggo Police Resort has deployed dozens of personnel to secure the Tengger community’s Yadnya Kasada ritual activities across multiple points in the Bromo area, Probolinggo Regency, East Java.
‘Personnel are deployed to provide security for the Yadnya Kasada ritual ceremony conducted by the Tengger community in Ngadisari Village, Probolinggo Regency,’ said Probolinggo Police Chief AKBP M. Wahyudin Latif on Sunday.
He stated that the annual traditional ceremony is centred at Pura Luhur Poten and the Bromo crater in Ngadisari Village, Sukapura District, Probolinggo Regency, from Sunday until early Monday (1 June).
He explained that security measures, both overt and covert, have been implemented by positioning personnel at strategic points to ensure the Tengger community’s activities proceed smoothly and peacefully.
In addition to deploying personnel, Probolinggo Police have coordinated and collaborated with various sectors to ensure the event’s smoothness and security.
Latif urged attendees to maintain order, refrain from bringing sound systems, firecrackers, or non-standard exhaust pipes that cause noise.
‘Let us respect the sacred Tengger tradition by keeping the situation safe and conducive,’ he added.
Yadnya Kasada is a sacred tradition passed down through generations by the Tengger community as an expression of gratitude to Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa and respect for ancestors.
The event will commence with Semeninga/Wiwit, followed by Mendak Tirta and Atur Suguh in the Tengger area. Next, the Tengger community will perform Pawedalan at Pura Luhur Poten and hold the Yadnya Kasada 2026 Reception Night at Ngadisari Village’s Agung Hall.
The climax of the ritual will take place at Pura Luhur Poten and the offering ceremony at the Bromo crater on Monday (1 June) early morning.
To maintain the solemnity and smooth running of the event, the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) has temporarily closed the Bromo tourist area to the general public from 30 May to 2 June 2026.
