Probe on train accident continues

CIREBON: Investigation into the train accident in Cirebon,
where 40 people were killed, found new evidence in the form of a
crack on the upper back part of the skull of Suwanto, the driver
of the Empu Jaya train.

The new evidence sparked speculation that sabotage was
possibly behind the accident, in which the Empu Jaya train hit
the Cirebon Express at Cirebon railway station in August.

"The crack behind the skull may indicate that the driver was
hit with a blunt object before the crash," an official who asked
to remain anonymous said.

In an ordinary accident, such a wound should be on the front
part of the skull due to the severe impact from the steering
equipment, he said.

The investigation team from Cirebon police was still in the
dark about the cause of the accident so it was forced to exhume
Suwanto's body in search of new evidence.

"We are still collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses
to help uncover the cause of the accident, Adj. Comr. Asep Jenal,
chief of Cirebon police detective department, said. -- Antara
