Probe into boat accident urged

PALU, Central Sulawesi: Relatives of three people who died in a motorboat accident last September have demanded an investigation into the case, Antara reported.

Abdul Rahman, a 26-year-old man who said his parents died when the overloaded boat overturned on its way from Banggai city to Tobungku village in Peleng Island, called for the investigation. It has been eight months since the accident took place.

The other victim, as yet unidentified, was an elderly woman.

Spokesman of the provincial police office Maj. Razali, however, said his office had never received reports about the accident. He promised to look into the matter further. (swe)
