Pro-Palestine Rally to Be Held Again in Front of US Embassy, Here Are Nine Demands
An unjuk rasa to defend Palestine will be held again on Sunday (14/6/2026) in front of the United States Embassy in Jakarta. Through a written statement on Friday, Ustadz Zaitun Rasmin revealed that several prominent figures will enliven the demonstration, such as Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Cholil Nafis, Ustadz Bachtiar Nasir, the Chairman of the Persatuan Tarbiyah Islamiyah (Perti), and Laznas Salam.
The presence of these figures is expected to further strengthen the message of Muslim unity and humanitarian solidarity for Palestine. The organising committee of the rally, titled Aksi Bela Palestina #140626, also expressed deep concern over the ongoing Israeli military aggression in Palestine, which has caused a large number of casualties, destroyed civilian facilities, and exacerbated the humanitarian crisis experienced by the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
The committee also condemned actions that threaten humanitarian heritage and interfaith life in the Holy Land, including attacks on the Palestinian Christian village of Taybeh in the West Bank, threats to the historic site of St. George’s Church (Al-Khader), and the kidnapping and torture of humanitarian activists from the Sumud Flotilla by Zionist soldiers.
The kidnapping, arbitrary detention, and torture of humanitarian activists attempting to channel aid and voice solidarity for the Palestinian people constitute serious violations of human rights principles and international law. Efforts to silence humanitarian voices through intimidation and violence cannot be justified under any circumstances and must receive attention and condemnation from the international community.
The organising committee also stated that a number of rally participants plan to join in voicing solidarity for their colleagues who are still detained in connection with the Land Convoy activities heading to the Gaza border. During the rally, they plan to unfurl banners calling for the release of the detained humanitarian activists and reminding the international community to pay attention to the continuously deteriorating humanitarian situation in the region.
