Pro-MBG Rally Urges National Nutrition Agency to Improve Programme Implementation

A group of protesters belonging to the Presidium of the People’s Alliance Supporting Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) held a demonstration on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/7/2026). During their protest, they expressed full support for the implementation of the MBG programme as a key government initiative, while simultaneously calling on the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to improve the programme’s implementation system. They also noted that the programme provides a positive impact on local economic circulation, particularly for farmers, fishermen, and labourers.

During the demonstration, participants requested that the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) refine the governance and implementation system of the MBG Programme to ensure it operates more effectively and reaches the correct targets. The Alliance believes that the MBG Programme needs continuous strengthening through evaluation and refinement to provide broader benefits to the community.

In addition to improving nutritional fulfilment, the group assessed that the MBG Programme has the potential to stimulate the local economy, especially for farmers, fishermen, and labourers who serve as part of the food supply chain. The peaceful protest was conducted with various attributes and calls for the Free Nutritious Meal Programme to be continuously monitored through transparent and accountable governance.

For the participants, the success of the MBG Programme is determined not only by the size of the budget but also by consistent, targeted implementation that delivers tangible benefits to the wider public.
