Pro-MBG Rally Urges National Nutrition Agency to Improve Programme Implementation

A group of demonstrators from the Presidium of the People’s Alliance for Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) held a rally on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/7/2026). The participants expressed their full support for the government programme while urging the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to improve its management and implementation systems to ensure the initiative runs more effectively and reaches the right targets. The alliance believes the programme must be continuously strengthened through evaluation and refinement to provide broader benefits to the community. Beyond improving nutritional intake, the demonstrators assessed that the MBG programme has the potential to boost the local economy, particularly for farmers, fishers, and labourers within the food supply chain. The peaceful protest featured various attributes and calls for the free nutritious meal programme to be overseen with transparent and accountable governance. According to the participants, the success of the MBG programme is determined not only by the size of its budget but also by consistent execution, accurate targeting, and the delivery of tangible benefits to the wider public.
