Privileges for places of worship

Privileges for places of worship

MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: The state-owned tap water company,
PDAM, said on Monday that it would exempt places of worship in
South Sulawesi from paying water bills during their respective
religious holidays.

Makassar's PDAM Director Ridwan Syahputra Musagani said the
exemption was given as part of the company's contribution to
community members in the province.

He said the policy had come into effect beginning from
Ramadhan, so mosques would not be charged during the current
fasting month.

He also added that churches would not need to pay their PDAM
bills taking effect one week before Christmas and lasting until
the New Year.

The move is aimed at helping to maintain religious harmony and
unity, Ridwan said. --Antara
