The private sector work-from-home (WFH) policy has come under attention following an urging from the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker) for companies to implement remote working one day per week. This urging is not mandatory but is hoped to be carried out with consideration for each company’s operational conditions. The WFH policy is contained in Circular Letter No. M/6/HK.04/III/2026 on Work From Home and the Optimisation Programme for Energy Utilisation in the Workplace. “Leaders of private companies, SOEs, and regional public companies are urged to implement work from home (WFH) for workers for one working day in one week according to company conditions,” stated during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/4/2026). Companies are also requested to ensure that productivity and service quality remain maintained during the implementation of this policy. In practice, the technical implementation of private sector WFH will be regulated by each company. This includes determining the remote working day to performance monitoring systems. With this flexibility, companies are expected to be able to adjust the policy without disrupting business operations.
