Private schools get bomb threat

BOGOR: Students at the private Regina Pacis and Bunda Hati Kudus Catholic schools in Bogor were sent home on Wednesday after the two schools received bomb threats over the phone.

The caller(s) at Regina Pacis said that a bomb was planted at the school and would explode at 11 a.m.

The bomb threat turned out to be a hoax.

The first call was made by an unidentified man at 6:30 a.m. to Regina Pacis' administration office. Another call was made at 6:50 a.m.

Bunda Hati Kudus received the first call at about 10 a.m. A teacher, Iksan, received the second call a few minutes later.

Bogor Police chief Sr. Comr. Bambang Wasgito said there had been three similar calls made to shopping malls soon after the Sept. 9 blast outside the Australian Embassy.

"But we take these seriously and respond to all reports of a bomb threat," he said.

The Regina Pacis school gave the elementary students the day off on Thursday, but its junior high and high school classes will remain open. Bunda Hati Kudus will resume classes on Thursday. --JP
