Private FAA Dies in Shooting, Military Commander Assures Transparent Investigation
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Sriwijaya II/Military Command is conducting an investigation into the incident that resulted in the death of Private FAA, a member of the Palembang Health Service Unit.
The Head of Public Information for the Sriwijaya II/Military Command, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Yordania, affirmed that the handling of this incident is being carried out seriously, professionally, and transparently.
“The Commander has ordered the Deputy Chief of Intelligence of the Sriwijaya II/Military Command and the Chief of the Military Police for the Sriwijaya II/Military Command to immediately handle the matter on-site through an in-depth investigation, so that there are no discrepancies in reporting or the development of incorrect opinions in society,” Yordania said in a statement on Saturday (16 May 2026).
Yordania stated that the Commander of the Sriwijaya II/Military Command has also ordered related units to immediately carry out comprehensive investigative steps on-site.
In addition, the Palembang Military Police Unit 2/IV is still carrying out a series of investigation processes, starting from examining witnesses at the scene, investigating CCTV footage, conducting an autopsy, collecting evidence, and coordinating with the South Sumatra Regional Police to support the disclosure of facts objectively and comprehensively.
“This process requires time; further information will be provided as soon as possible,” Yordania explained.
Meanwhile, the Sriwijaya II/Military Command also expressed condolences for the incident.
The command appealed to all parties to wait for the official results of the investigation and not spread unverified information so that the situation remains conducive.
In this incident, Private FAA died from gunshot wounds.
