Prisoners demand execution of bombers

JAKARTA: Fellow inmates at a tightly guarded Indonesian prison
despise the three Bali bombers and are calling for their
immediate execution, officials said on Friday.

Amrozi bin Nurhasyim, Ali Gufron and Imam Samudra - sentenced
to death for their roles in the 2002 nightclub bombings that
killed 202 people - were transferred from a prison in Bali to the
more secure Batu jail on Nusakambangan island last month.

"As soon as they arrived, other convicts started yelling 'Kill
Amrozi! Kill Amrozi!"' said Tri Lukito, a security official at
the prison.

Public calls to speed up the executions of the three have
mounted since a second series of terrorist attacks on the resort
island of Bali last month killed 23 people, including the suicide
bombers. -- AP
