Prioritize seizure of GAM leaders

The statement of Coordinating Minister for Political and
Security Affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono that the military
operation in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) should prioritize the
search for and capture of leaders of the Free Aceh Movement
(GAM), deserves our support.

The focusing of operations on GAM leaders as a main target --
although not easy -- will eventually weaken the power and
influence of the separatist group.

By enhancing intelligence performance and also encouraging the
active role of journalists in providing information on the
whereabouts of GAM big shots, I am convinced this task will be
accomplished.

After two months of martial law in NAD, security and law
enforcement can at least work smoother although several
obstructions have yet to be removed.
