Priok residents distressed as truck batteries frequently go missing, later alleged to be stolen by 'Bajing Loncat' thieves

The head of Tanjung Priok Port Police, AKBP Aris Wibowo, said the police had received the residents’ report. Officers were subsequently deployed to carry out an investigation.

“With this information, the Opsnal Team of Unit 2 Krimum conducted a series of inquiries and patrolled the Tanjung Priok area,” Aris said on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

Then on Thursday, 23 April 2026, at around 10:00 p.m. WIB, the officers found a breakthrough. They saw someone climbing onto the back of a truck.

“While being followed, the person took the battery from the truck and dropped it to the ground,” he said.

Another person followed on a motorcycle. The second person then picked up the battery that had been dropped by the first suspect from the truck.

“On seeing the incident, the Opsnal team arrested both individuals. The Unit 2 Krimum Opsnal Team then secured the two suspects along with the evidence to be taken to the Tanjung Priok Port Police Station for further processing,” he said.

A number of items were seized during the arrest. Among them were two batteries, a set of tools, and a motorcycle.
