Priok-Cilincing Traffic Congestion Due to Container Loading and Unloading at Depo Budi Dharma
North Jakarta Regional Transport Office said long traffic jams from Tanjung Priok Port to Marunda Cilincing and Cakung Cilincing (Cacing) on Thursday were caused by container loading and unloading activities at depots in Cilincing and Marunda.
Traffic congestion led to lengthy queues of container trucks and private vehicles on several roads leading to the port area.
“Container loading and unloading at Depo Budi Darma caused queues on Cilincing Main Road,” said Head of North Jakarta Regional Transport Office Rudi Saptari Sulesuryana in Jakarta on Thursday.
He stated that at 6pm WIB or Monday afternoon, traffic congestion that had been severe had started to ease slowly.
“Traffic police from Metro Jakarta North Police Residency and North Jakarta Regional Transport Office staff are managing the situation on-site,” he said.
Head of Traffic Police Unit (Kasatlantas) of Metro North Jakarta Police Residency, Kompol Ridha Poetera Aditya, stated that the traffic jam was caused by high vehicle volume due to loading and unloading activities at Depo Delta in the Marunda Cilincing area of North Jakarta.
He added that import-export activities from Tanjung Priok Port to outside the port area were also busy, but traffic flow could still be controlled by the Metro North Jakarta Police Traffic Unit.
According to him, by Thursday evening around 7pm WIB, traffic from Tanjung Priok Port to Cilincing and Cakung was flowing smoothly.
“Personnel are managing traffic to anticipate congestion,” he said.
Previously, hundreds of large container trailer trucks and private vehicles were stuck in a long traffic jam stretching from Tanjung Priok Port to Cilincing Main Road in North Jakarta, through Marunda, to Cakung Cilincing (Cacing), a large truck depot area where loading and unloading activities took place on Thursday afternoon.
“We have deployed personnel on-site to manage traffic flow,” said Yulza Romadhoni, Operations Section Head of North Jakarta Regional Transport Office, in Jakarta on Thursday.
