Principal nabbed for embezzlement

JAKARTA: A principal of a private elementary school in Duren Jaya, East Bekasi, was arrested by detectives on Monday for allegedly embezzling Rp 260 million (US$68,500) in savings belonging to 693 students.

East Bekasi Police chief of detectives First Insp. Warija said the suspect, identified only by his initials as "GG", was arrested by the police after they received complaints from outraged parents of pupils the school.

"Some parents have complained that the principal has failed to provide them ... with the money their children have been saving for a year," Warija said quoted by Antara.

He said police detectives were questioning the suspect about the case. --JP
